Sabathia Hits 10 in Yankees Win

by eric on July 1, 2011 updated July 1, 2011

The New York Yankees got a solid game from C.C. Sabathia, and the Yankees tore up the Rockies pitching staff, earning C.C. the honor of being the first MLB pitcher to notch 10 wins and giving New York an 8-3 win in Yankee Stadium.

Sabathia went 8 inning in the game, striking out nine batters and allowing only a single run. The Yankees ace has been a big part of the Yankees resurgence, having lost only one game since mid-may, and proving his endurance by giving the Yankees at least seven innings per game during that period.

Reaching the 10 game mark though, didn’t seem to impress Sabathia. “I wish I could say it meant something.” said Sabathia after the game.

For Yankees ticket holders that’s a good sign. The New York Yankees don’t get excited about the little things. To them the only thing worth getting excited about is a World Series win. And I have to say I’m impressed with the way the Yankees have been able to hold steady all season. Even when the Boston Red Sox began winning in a big way, the Yankees just plugging along, and now lead the AL East by a few games. It’s far from over, but the Yankees are in good position to be there at the end.
