Yankees Tickets – Canadian Fiasco

by eric on July 16, 2011 updated July 16, 2011

OK, what is this? The New York Yankees fell completely on their faces yesterday as they dropped their first game after the break to the Toronto Blue Jays 16-7. Yes, you read that right. The Yankees gave up 16 runs in their second half debut. It was another bad performance by Colon that started it and that’s been happening way too much. Thank goodness Yankees ticket holders didn’t have to witness it in Yankees Stadium.

The Blue Jays piled on eight runs in the first inning against Colon. We had big hopes for this guy after he came back from injury, but he’s now lost three straight and we’re wondering if he came back too soon. But for the Yankees, it ain’t all pitching. The Defense seemed way out of sync, giving up three errors and five unearned runs.

It’s time for the New York Yankees to get their act together. Neither the Tampa Bay Rays or the Boston Red Sox are going to roll over. If there’s a late season surge to be put together, getting it started early will help. But C.C. Sabathia can’t do it all, so Colon will either have to get healthy now, or be saved for the end of the season with crossed fingers.
